Tragic Loss of a Promising Student
A young life was cut short following a tragic incident, leaving the deceased’s family distressed and unsettled. Friends and comrades of the deceased mourned her in moving messages shared on social media. They stood with the family during their trying moments as funeral arrangement plans were announced.
A heavy cloud of sorrow has descended on a family in Uasin Gishu County after being hit by tragic news. 
The shattered family has been thrown into mourning following the unfortunate demise of their loved one.
Nicole Jemutai, a first-year student at the University of Nairobi (UoN), met her fate on the Thika Superhighway. With regrets and deep sorrow, we announce the untimely and tragic loss of Nicole Jemutai through a grisly road accident on the Nairobi–Thika Superhighway on Saturday evening, October 4 while crossing the road. The late Nicole was the granddaughter of Mathayo Sing’oei (Kapn ‘Gochoch) family of Seiyo Village.
The promising student’s death left her school fraternity in shock and pain as a bright future was cut short. Jemutai’s photo went viral following the horrible news, capturing her sense of fashion and revealing her identity.
In the photo shared, she wore a T-shirt and trousers with side pockets as she posed for the picture. Her hair was neatly plaited, and she slightly smiled during the shoot. We extend our deepest condolences to the family, church, friends, and Cheptiret community during this trying moment. May her memory be cherished, and may her family find strength during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Nicole.

Funeral Arrangements and Community Response
Funeral arrangements are already underway, with a fundraising event set to be held on Saturday, October 11, a week after Jemutai’s death. The event will take place at her home in Seiyo village starting at 2 p.m., and as many people as possible have been urged to attend.
Jemutai’s final send-off ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 14, at her home. Kenyans mourn Nicole Jemutai, with social media users sharing in the family’s grief, joining them in mourning their young daughter and penning moving messages:
