Darren Ferguson Sacked by Peterborough United for the Fourth Time
Darren Ferguson, the son of legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson, has been dismissed from his role as manager of Peterborough United for the fourth time. This decision came after a recent defeat in a match that saw the club finish at the bottom of the League One table.
Ferguson Jnr had previously taken charge of Peterborough on four separate occasions, starting in 2007. His latest departure followed a 2-1 home loss to Blackpool on Saturday afternoon. The chairman of Peterborough United, Darragh MacAnthony, announced the decision to terminate Ferguson’s contract after the game.
“I have made the decision to terminate Darren Ferguson’s contract after today’s game,” MacAnthony stated. “The decision wasn’t taken lightly but it’s a decision I feel is the correct one for the football club.”
He added: “The gaffer is for me the greatest manager in the club’s history who I will always consider to be part of my family and the club’s family. There are too many wonderful moments to mention here but those many historical celebrated moments I will cherish and remember forever.”

Goostrey, where Sir Alex now resides, has a rich history, first appearing in the Domesday Book of 1086. It has become a popular area among footballers, including Raheem Sterling, who lived there during his time at Manchester City. The village features two pubs, the Crown Inn and the Space Invader (formerly known as the Red Lion), as well as several local shops, a post office, and a cafe.
