During his notice period, Somerville will continue to be part of the FIA but will not have access to sensitive information related to rival teams. The FIA has ensured that all necessary measures are in place to protect confidential data during this transition. The organization emphasized that Somerville will be working on non-sensitive, non-F1 projects during this time.

“We can confirm that Jason Somerville, Head of Aerodynamics, will be leaving the FIA,” an FIA spokesperson stated. “Jason will serve his full notice period including gardening leave. During this transition, Jason will dedicate his time to non-sensitive, non-F1 projects. Access to sensitive and confidential information has been adjusted accordingly, in line with our standard off-boarding procedures. We would like to thank Jason for his invaluable contribution to the organisation and wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”

The FIA has also mentioned that Jan Monchaux, the head of single-seaters, along with other existing personnel, will take over Somerville’s previous duties in the meantime.
