Seconds into Monday’s broadcast of “Today with Jenna & Friends,” co-host Jenna Bush Hager experienced a comical on-air hiccup. The incident involved guest co-host Brooke Shields and an unexpectedly low chair.

As the cameras began rolling, viewers quickly noticed a significant height difference between Bush Hager and Shields. Shields, sitting in her assigned seat, appeared much closer to the desk, while Bush Hager towered over her guest.

“You guys, something is wrong!” Bush Hager exclaimed, addressing the production crew. “Something is very wrong!”

Shields, known for her good humour, took the situation in stride. She quipped, “I get it, it’s your show! I get it!” She continued to joke about being given a child-sized chair, adding to the light-hearted atmosphere.

Bush Hager, visibly amused and slightly embarrassed, confessed that the show had “never had a chair issue before.” A member of the crew promptly rushed onto the set with a replacement chair to rectify the situation.

“That moment, when I looked over, I was like, something is not right,” Bush Hager recounted, before smoothly transitioning into a discussion about Shields’ current projects.

While the on-air mishap provided amusement for many viewers, it also sparked a wave of support for Shields, with some suggesting she become a permanent co-host.

Comments flooded the show’s official Instagram page, expressing admiration for Shields and advocating for her inclusion in the program.

  • One commenter wrote, “Brooke would be the BEST co-host!”
  • Another observed, “You and Brooke make a fabulous duo.”
  • A third pleaded, “Please employer, hire Brooke for co-host.”
  • A fourth exclaimed, “Brooke is the best! She’s funny, smart, and beautiful. Keep her on the show please!”

The “Today with Jenna & Friends” segment has seen a rotating roster of guest co-hosts in recent months, following Hoda Kotb’s departure in January. Over the past 11 months, Bush Hager has shared the screen with notable figures such as Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria, and even her husband, Henry Hager.

According to a source close to the show, there is no immediate rush to name a permanent replacement for Kotb. The source indicated that the network is carefully evaluating potential candidates.

“There has been no permanent co-host decision for ‘Today with Jenna & Friends’,” the source stated last February. “There is no reason to make a decision now. There’s been a lot of people vying for the opportunity to guest co-host.”

The show’s format of inviting different guest co-hosts each week allows for a variety of perspectives and on-screen chemistry. While the search for a permanent co-host continues, the rotating format provides opportunities for various personalities to shine alongside Bush Hager. The incident with Brooke Shields’ chair, while a minor technical difficulty, highlighted the importance of adaptability and humour in live television, and showcased Shields’ potential as a valuable addition to the program. The positive audience reaction to Shields further underscores the ongoing search for the right chemistry and dynamic to complement Bush Hager’s hosting style. The future of “Today with Jenna & Friends” remains open, with the possibility of a permanent co-host still on the horizon.
