Appointment of Mr. Musah Ahmed as New Judicial Secretary to the Judicial Service of Ghana

His Excellency the President has approved the appointment of Mr. Musah Ahmed as the new Judicial Secretary to the Judicial Service of Ghana. This decision was made in accordance with Article 148 of the 1992 Constitution and following the advice of the Judicial Council.

Mr. Ahmed was officially sworn in on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, by the Acting Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie. He assumes the role from Deputy Judicial Secretary Dr. Cyracus B. Bapuuroh, who has been serving in an acting capacity since April 2025. The announcement of his appointment was made through a statement issued today by the Communications Department of the Judicial Service of Ghana.

This marks Mr. Ahmed’s historic appointment as the 17th Judicial Secretary since the establishment of the First Republic. With over 25 years of experience in legal practice, he has established himself as a prominent figure in Ghana’s legal community.

Professional Background and Expertise

As the CEO of Ahmed Legal Consult, Mr. Ahmed has provided advisory services in several key areas of law, including Maritime Law, Commercial Law, Constitutional Law, Land Law, and International Law. His client base includes embassies such as those of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait, as well as corporate and traditional institutions.

Before his current role, Mr. Ahmed served as Vice-Chairman of the Hajj Board and has consistently advocated for the rule of law and institutional development. He is also a founding member of the Legal Resource Centre, where he has played a vital role in improving access to justice and strengthening institutional capacity.

Academic and Professional Achievements

Mr. Ahmed holds an LL.M in National Security Law from the University of Ghana (2023), an LL.B with Honours from the same university (1997), and a Qualifying Certificate from the Ghana School of Law (1999). During his time at the Ghana School of Law, he was recognized as the Best Student in Advocacy and Legal Ethics.
