Nasarawa Police Apprehend Motorcycle Robbery Suspects

The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the successful arrest of two individuals, Isaac Audu and Jamilu Yusuf, in connection with the alleged robbery of a resident’s motorcycle. The development marks another step in the command’s ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities across the state.

The Public Relations Officer for the command, Ramhan Nansel, detailed the incident in a statement released on Sunday. According to Nansel, initial investigations indicate that the suspects, armed with a locally manufactured firearm, accosted the victim in the early hours of Saturday, around 1 a.m. The attack reportedly took place in the Foundation Area, located behind the Federal Polytechnic Staff School.

Upon receiving intelligence regarding the robbery, police operatives swiftly mobilized, tracking down and apprehending the suspects. Crucially, the firearm allegedly used in the commission of the crime was also recovered during the operation.

Nansel elaborated on the sequence of events, stating, “Preliminary investigation revealed that on December 20, 2025, at about 0010 hours, the suspects, armed with a locally fabricated firearm, attacked a resident of the Foundation Area, behind the Federal Polytechnic Staff School, Nasarawa, and dispossessed him of an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.”

The statement emphasized that the apprehension of the culprits was a direct result of timely information provided to the police, which enabled them to initiate a pursuit and subsequent arrest. “However, nemesis caught up with the suspects following timely information received by the police, which led to their trail and subsequent arrest,” Nansel added.

During the course of the arrest operation, law enforcement officials were able to recover significant exhibits. These included the locally fabricated firearm believed to have been used in the robbery, as well as the stolen Bajaj motorcycle.

The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has used this occasion to reassure the public of the command’s unwavering dedication to ensuring a safe and secure environment, particularly as the Yuletide season approaches. This commitment aims to provide residents with peace of mind during the festive period.

This recent arrest is part of a broader strategy by the Nasarawa State Police Command to intensify its crackdown on criminal elements operating within its jurisdiction. The command has been actively engaged in a series of operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and bringing offenders to justice.

In a related development, PUNCH Metro reported on September 9 that the command had achieved another significant success. During extensive operations conducted across all 13 Local Government Areas of the state, a total of nine suspects were arrested, and an impressive cache of 4,264 rounds of ammunition was recovered.

Commissioner of Police Mohammed had highlighted this earlier success during a press briefing held at the command’s headquarters in Lafia, underscoring the proactive stance of the police force in combating crime throughout Nasarawa State.
