A devastating accident on the Padma River in Chapainawabganj’s Sadar Upazila on Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of a 60-year-old man. The victim, identified as Md Bhikhu, son of the late Abdus Salam, was travelling on a passenger boat when it collided with a sand-laden bulkhead. The incident occurred as the boat was nearing its destination, leading to critical injuries for Bhikhu.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, his condition continued to deteriorate. He passed away at approximately 7:45 PM while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The on-duty physician at Chapainawabganj District Hospital, Umme Habiba, provided details regarding the victim’s injuries. She stated that Md Bhikhu sustained injuries to his hands and chest as a direct result of the collision.
