Investigation into the Disappearance of Pamela Ling

Pamela Ling, a Singapore-based businesswoman, has been missing for six months, and there are ongoing speculations about her disappearance. According to a source close to the investigation, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is not involved in her vanishing.

The source stated that rumors suggesting the MACC has something to hide have circulated due to the lack of progress in the police investigations. However, the source emphasized that this is beyond the MACC’s control.

Ling, who is 42 years old and originally from Sarawak, was under investigation alongside her husband, Thomas Hah, for alleged corruption and money laundering. She disappeared on April 9 while en route to a scheduled meeting with the MACC. Her absence has significantly hindered the agency’s probe.

“It is implausible that MACC would have wanted to cause her disappearance,” the source said. The anti-graft body has been carefully building its case since May, including investigating the establishment of multiple shell companies and tracing the flow of funds across different jurisdictions.

Ling was initially uncooperative and had to be lawfully repatriated from Singapore in January 2025. Her testimony was expected to be crucial in uncovering the financial trail. Without her, the MACC’s case has been severely weakened. “There is no logic in MACC undermining its own investigation,” the source added.

The source also mentioned that Ling was last seen near the MACC’s Putrajaya headquarters, a location that is heavily monitored by CCTV cameras. “It would be irrational for MACC to orchestrate an abduction in such a closely-guarded and public setting,” the source said.

The police became involved in the investigation only after Ling was reported missing. On May 9, Hah was arrested to assist in the probe. The source noted that rumors of police involvement were fueled by reports claiming that Ling was abducted by individuals in police uniforms.

“If the police were truly involved, the officers would have more likely been in plain clothes. In cases like this, uniforms suggest impersonation, not official action,” the source said.

According to police reports, five vehicles were involved in the incident, with three of them having cloned number plates. In August, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail mentioned that one of the vehicles was found abandoned at Bukit Kayu Hitam, near the Kedah-Thai border.

It is believed that about eight suspects were involved in the alleged kidnapping. Two individuals were seen on CCTV footage wearing police vests. In May, then Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa stated that the force was not involved in any such operation at the time.

In June, Ling’s lawyer, Sangeet Kaur Deo, revealed that her client’s family had been informed that police investigations had yet to find any leads.
