Luke Combs to Headline Slane in 2026

Luke Combs is set to take the stage at Slane Castle in 2026, marking a significant moment in the history of the iconic venue. This announcement has generated a lot of excitement among fans and music enthusiasts alike. The event will be the first since Harry Styles performed there in 2023 and follows the passing of Lord Henry Mount Charles in June.

Alex, the son of Lord Henry Mount Charles, shared his thoughts on this new chapter for Slane. He mentioned that the future of the venue might see a shift in the genres of music played. “Not boxing ourselves in is key,” he said. “I’d like to take on some other genres [of music] and I’ll leave it at that.”

The anticipation around the event was heightened by a social media clip that hinted at Luke Combs as the headliner. Fans were quick to connect the dots and became convinced about the lineup for the monumental gig.

Early Life of Luke Combs

Born in North Carolina in 1990, Luke Albert Combs turned 35 in 2025. He is the only son of Rhonda and Chester Lee Combs. He credits his parents with instilling a strong work ethic in him and working tirelessly to provide for his needs growing up. When he started earning money, he returned the favor by paying off their mortgage.

“I remember calling my parents and being like: ‘I’m paying your house off.’ And they were like, ‘What? You can’t. No. Don’t do this.’ And I was like, ‘No, I’m doing it. That’s what I’m doing.’”

He also bought himself a truck and paid off his parents’ house first thing anyway, as he revealed during an interview with The Marty Smith Podcast.

Career Highlights

Luke made his mark in the music scene in 2014 with his EP, The Way She Rides. He gained more recognition in 2016 with his single Hurricane, which sold 15,000 copies in its first week. A deal with Sony Music Nashville followed, and when Hurricane was re-released, it reached the top of the Billboard charts.

In 2019, Luke joined the Grand Ole Opry, and several more albums and collaborations with artists like Ed Sheeran have continued to make waves in the music industry.

Personal Life and Family

In 2016, Luke met his now-wife, Nicole Hocking, at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. They began spending time together after returning to Nashville, and their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship.

Luke described Nicole as different from anyone he had ever met. Nicole added, “I realised we could hang out and just be ourselves in front of each other. I could wear no make-up and be my weird self – because we’re all weird, but we get to choose who to share that side of us with.”

They announced their engagement while on holiday in Hawaii, with Luke writing, “can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.” A few days later, he released the hit Beautiful Crazy about his bride-to-be. In August 2020, they tied the knot at their home in South Florida in front of friends and family.

Luke described the day as “the best day of [his] life,” adding, “I got to marry my best friend. I love you @nicolehocking, here’s to forever.”

In 2021, he faced a public moment when he forgot to thank his wife at the Country Music Awards. “I did forget to thank my wife out there, which, babe, I love you, you know, I love you. I don’t even have to say it, you know I love you,” he said at the time.

Growing Their Family

In June 2022, Luke and Nicole welcomed their first child, a son named Tex Lawrence Combs. Nicole shared, “You are the best chillest angel boy, and I was so happy to be chosen to be your mom.”

In August 2023, their second son, Beau Lee, arrived. In September, Luke revealed they were expecting their third child this winter.

Mental Health Struggles

Luke has been open about his struggles with mental health. He revealed that he began dealing with anxiety and OCD during his college years and still faces challenges with controlling his obsessive thoughts at times.
