Elen Wyn Shares Her Unique Anatomy and Health Journey

Elen Wyn, known for her role in The Traitors, has opened up about a rare medical condition that she discovered through an MRI scan. The 25-year-old, who appeared on the third season of The Traitors for two episodes before being voted out, has since used her platform to discuss women’s health issues.

In a recent appearance on the podcast It’s Not JUST a Period!, Wyn revealed that she has two wombs and two cervixes. She shared this information with the host, Alexandra Morris, explaining that the discovery came as a shock but ultimately left her feeling at peace.

Wyn described the moment she learned about her unique anatomy: “It was quite surreal. I was never sad or stressed. I’m ok with it.” She explained that her gynaecologist had to create a diagram to help her visualize her anatomy. According to Wyn, each womb is connected to one ovary and one fallopian tube, and both are functioning.

She also mentioned that there is technology available to protect both wombs if she were to become pregnant in the future. “I’m kind of grateful that I do have an abnormal anatomy, because otherwise I wouldn’t have found out I have endometriosis as well,” she added.

Understanding Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside the uterus. This can cause severe pain and may affect fertility. There is currently no cure for the condition. According to the World Health Organisation, approximately 10% of reproductive-age women and girls worldwide are affected by endometriosis.

Wyn initially felt terrified when an internal ultrasound could not locate her cervix. Doctors told her she did not have endometriosis, but her anatomy was described as “very different.” As a result, she was referred for an urgent MRI scan, which confirmed her condition.

The scan also revealed that she has one kidney, two cervixes, and two wombs. Since starting her period as a teenager, Wyn has faced challenges, including pushback from doctors who told her to “work on her pain tolerance.”

How Common Is Uterus Didelphys?

Having two cervixes, medically known as uterus didelphys, occurs in 0.1–0.5% of women in the United States. Globally, it is estimated to affect 1 in 3,000 women. Many cases go undetected unless there are medical complications.

Wyn recalls being told “so many times” that she was “just being dramatic.” However, she finally felt relief when she received her diagnosis, knowing she had a condition that could be managed.
