Janelle Brown’s Cryptic Social Media Posts Spark Speculation About Leaving “Sister Wives”
Fans of the popular reality television series “Sister Wives” are abuzz with concern and speculation following a series of introspective posts shared by Janelle Brown on Instagram. The real estate broker turned flower farmer, aged 56, has ignited discussions about her potential departure from the show, a move that would come three years after the dissolution of her nearly three-decade-long marriage to Kody Brown.
The initial spark for these conversations came on December 21st when Janelle shared her thoughts on embracing new beginnings and seeking different paths in life. “I used to think I’d ‘broken’ at certain points in my life,” she confessed. “Leaving the show… leaving a marriage… starting over at an age where everyone expects you to have it all figured out. I kept looking at the pieces and thinking something must be wrong with me.”

Currently, Janelle remains a prominent figure on “Sister Wives,” now in its 20th season. The show also features her former sister wives Meri Brown, 54, and Christine Brown, 53, along with her ex-husband Kody Brown, 56, and his sole remaining wife, Robyn Brown, 47. Janelle, who has previously expressed openness to a monogamous relationship, is mother to six of Kody’s 18 children. These include Hunter, 28; Madison, 30; Logan, 31; Gabriel, 24; Savanah, 21; and the late Garrison, who tragically passed away in 2024 at the age of 27.

However, Janelle’s perspective on these life events has evolved. “Standing where I am, I can see it differently,” she reflected in her post. “None of those moments were breaking points. They were shedding points. Old expectations. Old versions of myself. Old identities that were never really mine.”
This deeply personal reflection was met with an outpouring of support and concern from her dedicated fanbase. Many fans expressed their worry about her potential exit from the show.
- “Leaving the show? If you’re leaving, I hope it’s for a new show about yourself.”
- “Leaving the show? Noooooooooooooooo, you’re the good, kind part.”
- “Leaving the show? I hope you get your own show!!! You deserve to have your own life to yourself so I shouldn’t complain.”
- “Wait…leaving the show??”
Amidst the anxieties, some fans offered words of encouragement and admiration, recognizing Janelle’s strength and authenticity. “You are an inspiration. You are honest, sincere, true person. I wish you much love and happiness moving forward,” one fan wrote.
The timing of these posts is significant. Earlier in 2024, Janelle relocated from Arizona to North Carolina to establish her flower farm, Taeda Farms. She embarked on this new venture with her daughter Madison and son-in-law Caleb Brush.

This move, coupled with her recent reflections, has led many to believe that Janelle may be preparing to sever ties with “Sister Wives.” The series, which premiered on TLC in 2010, initially aimed to showcase the principles of polygamy and the collaborative benefits of sister wives raising children together.
However, the show’s narrative increasingly delved into the complexities and dysfunctions within the plural marriage. Viewers have witnessed Kody Brown’s evident favoritism towards his youngest wife, Robyn, and the emotional toll it took on his other wives, particularly concerning feelings of jealousy and anger. Kody’s legal marriage to Robyn was only possible after he divorced his first wife, Meri, to facilitate the union. His marriages to Meri, Christine, and Janelle were spiritual unions. Like Janelle, both Meri and Christine have since departed from the plural family structure.
In another post on December 19th, Janelle mused on the peculiar nature of public perception. “How strange it is to have people ‘know’ your story without ever really knowing you,” she wrote. “For so long I felt like I was running to catch up with the version of me the world created… the strong one, the steady one, the one who didn’t bend even when things were heavy. But there were so many pieces of me that never made it onto a screen, and now, in this quieter chapter, I’m realizing how good it feels to finally share from my heart instead of a storyline.”
These candid social media messages surface nearly a year after Janelle publicly accused Kody of draining their joint family account towards the end of their plural marriage. On an episode that aired in January, the mother of six expressed her feelings of powerlessness. “I never felt like I had much control over my own money because everybody was pulling from the same [account],” she stated.

Janelle recounted how the blended family’s finances were once managed as a collective pool, a system that had previously worked well. “We set our family up that way. But, like, toward the end, it was just really hard,” she explained. “The last several years, Kody would just take out funds and I don’t know what for. And the money was just being spent — and lots of it.”
Kody, however, defended his financial decisions, refuting the claim that he was reckless with the funds. In comments reported by Us Weekly, he stated, “I was a father to 18 and a husband to more than just Janelle. So, we had a lot of places that money needed to go that weren’t always Janelle’s business.”
The revelations and Janelle’s recent introspective posts raise several compelling questions for viewers:
- How did Kody Brown allegedly deplete their joint family funds, leaving Janelle feeling financially disempowered?
- What were the specific circumstances that led to the significant rift between Kody and his ex-wife Janelle, impacting their six children?
- Is Janelle truly making a definitive break from Kody Brown, and what are her concrete plans for severing ties with her former husband?
- What factors motivated “Sister Wives” star Janelle to embrace her “single life” following two significant relationship endings?
- Following her experience in a polygamous marriage with Kody Brown, will Janelle Brown now choose to pursue a monogamous relationship?
