Janelle Brown Sparks Speculation of Departure from “Sister Wives” Amidst Personal Reflections
Fans of the popular reality television series “Sister Wives” are abuzz with speculation that Janelle Brown, one of the show’s prominent figures, might be stepping away from the cameras. This concern arises nearly three years after her separation from Kody Brown, her husband of almost three decades. The 56-year-old real estate broker, who has also ventured into flower farming, ignited these discussions with a series of introspective posts on social media, hinting at a new phase in her life and a desire for something different.
In a reflective post on December 21st, Janelle shared her past struggles with self-perception, stating, “I used to think I’d ‘broken’ at certain points in my life.” She elaborated on these challenging moments, including “Leaving the show… leaving a marriage… starting over at an age where everyone expects you to have it all figured out.” She confessed to looking at these circumstances and wondering, “something must be wrong with me.”
The reality star currently features in the show alongside her former sister wives, Meri Brown and Christine Brown, her ex-husband Kody Brown, and his only remaining wife, Robyn Brown. Janelle, who has previously expressed openness to a monogamous relationship, shares six of Kody’s eighteen children: Hunter (28), Madison (30), Logan (31), Gabriel (24), Savanah (21), and the late Garrison, who tragically passed away in 2024 at the age of 27.

However, Janelle’s perspective has evolved. “Standing where I am, I can see it differently,” she mused in her post. She clarified that these pivotal moments were not “breaking points” but rather “shedding points.” She described them as shedding “Old expectations. Old versions of myself. Old identities that were never really mine.”
These deeply personal reflections prompted a flood of concerned comments from fans. Many expressed their worry about her potential departure from the show. One fan commented, “Leaving the show? If you’re leaving, I hope it’s for a new show about yourself.” Another lamented, “Leaving the show? Noooooooooooooooo, you’re the good, kind part.” A third fan suggested, “Leaving the show? I hope you get your own show!!! You deserve to have your own life to yourself so I shouldn’t complain.” The sentiment of surprise and concern was palpable, with one follower directly asking, “Wait…leaving the show??”
Amidst the worry, many fans offered words of encouragement and support. One follower wrote, “You are an inspiration. You are honest, sincere, true person. I wish you much love and happiness moving forward.”
A New Chapter in North Carolina
Janelle’s recent personal shifts are underscored by her relocation. In early 2024, she moved from Arizona to North Carolina to establish her flower farm, Taeda Farms. She is pursuing this venture with her daughter Madison and son-in-law Caleb Brush, signalling a significant life change beyond her television commitments.

This move, coupled with her introspective social media posts, suggests a potential severance of ties with “Sister Wives.” The series, which premiered on TLC in 2010, aimed to destigmatize polygamy and highlight the collaborative benefits of sister wives raising children together. However, the show has also brought to light the complexities and dysfunctions within the Brown family, including Kody’s evident favoritism towards Robyn and the emotional struggles of his other wives, particularly concerning feelings of jealousy and anger.
Kody Brown’s legal marriage to Robyn was facilitated by his divorce from Meri. His unions with Meri, Christine, and Janelle were spiritual. Like Janelle and Christine, Meri has also departed from the plural family structure.
The Paradox of Public Perception
In a post on December 19th, Janelle articulated the peculiar experience of having her narrative shaped by public perception. “How strange it is to have people ‘know’ your story without ever really knowing you,” she wrote. She described a long period of feeling like she was “running to catch up with the version of me the world created… the strong one, the steady one, the one who didn’t bend even when things were heavy.”
She further revealed that “there were so many pieces of me that never made it onto a screen.” Now, in what she describes as a “quieter chapter,” Janelle is embracing the authenticity of sharing her story directly from her heart, rather than adhering to a pre-defined storyline.
Financial Disagreements and Kody’s Defense
These candid social media reflections come at a time when financial issues within the family have been a recurring theme. Nearly a year ago, Janelle accused Kody of depleting their joint family account significantly towards the end of their plural marriage. On an episode that aired in January, she voiced her feelings of diminished financial control, stating, “I never felt like I had much control over my own money because everybody was pulling from the same [account].”

Janelle explained that the family’s initial financial model involved pooling resources, which once fostered a sense of unity. However, she found the arrangement increasingly challenging in later years. “The last several years, Kody would just take out funds and I don’t know what for. And the money was just being spent — and lots of it,” she recounted.
Kody, however, has defended his spending habits, refuting claims of reckless financial management. As reported by Us Weekly, he explained his perspective by stating, “I was a father to 18 and a husband to more than just Janelle. So, we had a lot of places that money needed to go that weren’t always Janelle’s business.” This ongoing narrative suggests that financial disputes played a significant role in the dissolution of Janelle’s marriage to Kody and may continue to be a point of contention.
