Daisy May Cooper’s Unconventional Teenage Love Story
Daisy May Cooper, known for her work in the comedy series This Country, has shared some surprising stories from her teenage years. Before becoming a household name, she grew up in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, and had a unique approach to romance.
In a recent interview with her brother, Charlie Cooper, who is also an actor and writer, they discussed some of the more unusual experiences from their youth. Charlie jokingly mentioned that Daisy might have ended up in prison if it weren’t for their family. He recalled a time when Daisy crushed sleeping tablets and added them to her parents’ tea so she could meet a boy.
Daisy admitted to the act, explaining that she had a boyfriend who worked late at a Chinese restaurant. Since her parents never went to sleep until 8pm, she started poisoning their tea. “That’s quite dark,” she said.
Daisy, now 38, was previously married to Will Weston from 2019 to 2021. The couple has two children, a daughter and a son. Earlier this year, she welcomed her son Benji with her partner Anthony Huggins, 46.
During the interview, the siblings also talked about how their relationship was affected by the success of Their mockumentary sitcom, This Country, which focused on the daily lives of two cousins living in a small hamlet in the Cotswolds. The show ran for three seasons.
“We probably needed a break from each other because it was quite intense working together as well as being siblings,” Charlie admitted. Although Daisy said they never had a falling out, they “stopped hanging out together.”
However, they have now reunited for a new series called NightWatch, where they spend the night at some of the most haunted places across the UK. They are told about the spooky stories and chilling incidents reported at these locations.
Speaking about the show, they said: “We’ve both had a brush with the paranormal and really do love the concept of life after death, so we thought this could be the perfect way to prove to the world that we’re not delusional. It will be a miracle if we both come out alive and well.”
Despite the excitement around the new series, they confirmed there are no plans to revive the show that made them famous. Daisy joked about the impossibility of returning to the original format, saying, “We can’t do This Country, though, because I’ve lost so much weight and I’ve had my lips done.” She continued, “We’d have to say that Kerry’s had a tapeworm and been stung by a bee.”
