Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Launch in Malaysia
Almost two months after its global announcement, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is now officially available in Malaysia. The Made by Google team has kept its promise to bring a Pixel foldable device to the Malaysian market, following the fact that our market missed the development cycle for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Pricing Details
Initially, we thought that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold would be released in Malaysia with just one variant. However, earlier this month, it was revealed that customers in Malaysia have two options:
- Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold 512GB: RM8,599
- Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold 256GB: RM7,999
For the Malaysian market, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is only available in the Moonstone colourway. However, you can choose to purchase the Google Pixelsnap case for the device (priced at RM339) in Obsidian or Jade if you are not fond of the Moonstone finish.
Key Specifications
Being a foldable device, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold has two different screens. On the outside, there is a 6.4-inch Actua OLED display with 1080 x 2364 resolution, a dynamic refresh rate range of 60 to 120Hz, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
On the inside, the 10 Pro Fold features an 8-inch Super Actua Flex OLED display with 2076 x 2152 resolution, a much wider dynamic refresh rate range of 1 to 120Hz, and is covered by Ultra Thin Glass (UTG). Google also mentioned that the screen features two layers of anti-impact film for additional drop protection.
Design and Durability
Designed to meet the IP68 standard, which Google claims is the first for a foldable device, the 10 Pro Fold also features a new gearless hinge that was claimed to be twice as durable as its predecessor and can last over 10 years of folding. The company also stated that both of the 10 Pro Fold’s displays have peak brightness levels of 3000 nits, providing visibility in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Performance and Battery Life
Just like other devices within the Pixel 10 Pro family, the 10 Pro Fold is powered by the new Google Tensor G5 processor. It also has 16GB of RAM, with storage options up to 1TB, though in Malaysia, the maximum available is 512GB. With its 5015mAh battery, Google claims that its new foldable has a battery life of more than 24 hours and can be extended up to 72 hours via the Extreme Battery Saver mode.
Charging Capabilities
Even though one might consider the 10 Pro Fold as the bigger brother of the 10 Pro XL, its maximum charging rate is much lower. Specifically, the wired charging rate for the 10 Pro Fold maxes out at 30W wired charging, while its maximum wireless charging rate is 15W when used with Qi2-certified wireless chargers such as the new Google Pixelsnap chargers.
Camera Features
Being a Pixel device, the 10 Pro Fold has also been equipped with a variety of photography hardware. On its back is a triple camera system that features a 48MP Quad PD main camera, a 10.5MP Dual PD ultra-wide camera with Macro Focus, and a 10.8MP Dual PD telephoto camera that has 5x optical zoom capability as well as 20x Super Res Zoom feature.
For the main and telephoto cameras, they also feature an optical and electronic image stabilisation system. Not to forget, both the external and internal screens have their own 10MP Dual PD cameras.
