Strengthening Economic Ties Between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need to expand Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia beyond the realm of defense. During a recent visit by a high-level Saudi delegation, the Prime Minister called for a renewed focus on trade, business, and investment, highlighting the potential for mutual economic growth.

The luncheon hosted at the PM House was an opportunity for both nations to reaffirm their strong and enduring ties. The event brought together key figures from both countries, creating a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration.

A Deep and Unshakeable Relationship

PM Shehbaz expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support that Saudi Arabia has consistently provided to Pakistan, especially during challenging times. He described the relationship as “unshakeable and based on enduring commitment.” This sentiment was echoed by members of the Saudi delegation, who acknowledged the long-standing friendship between the two nations.

The prime minister also highlighted the recent defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, calling it a formalization of their brotherly ties. Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al Saud, who led the visiting team, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s intent to deepen economic ties with Pakistan. He mentioned that prior to their visit, meetings were held with all key Saudi ministers to discuss potential strategic projects in Pakistan.

Learning from Visionary Leadership

PM Shehbaz also praised the leadership of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, acknowledging his visionary approach that has reshaped Saudi society and opened new horizons. This recognition of Saudi leadership underscores the respect and admiration that Pakistan holds for its Gulf partner.

In addition to the luncheon, PM Shehbaz met with Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, chairman of the Saudi Shura Council. The chairman expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to the delegation and referred to the defense agreement as a milestone in the longstanding relationship between the two nations.

Enhancing Parliamentary and Institutional Cooperation

Dr Al Sheikh also emphasized the importance of further strengthening parliamentary relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He called for increased cooperation between the legislative institutions of both countries, suggesting that such efforts could lead to more structured and effective collaboration.
