Red Bull Fined for Breach of FIA Rules
Red Bull Racing has been fined €50,000 by the FIA stewards, with €25,000 of that amount suspended for the remainder of the 2025 season. The suspension is conditional on the team not committing a similar breach in the future.
The incident occurred when a member of the Milton Keynes-based team re-entered the grid after the formation lap had already begun. This action led to an investigation by the stewards, who found that the team had violated two specific clauses of the FIA International Sporting Code: 12.2.1.h and 12.2.1.i.
According to the stewards’ statement, the team member entered the gate well area at Gate 1, which is near the second grid position, after the formation lap had started. At that moment, the pit marshals were attempting to close the gate. The report from the pit marshals indicated that the team member did not respond to their efforts to stop him from entering the area.
During the hearing, the team representative explained that the team member had not been aware of the marshals’ attempts to prevent him from entering. However, the stewards emphasized that anyone associated with a team or other stakeholders should be fully aware of the rules prohibiting entry onto the track or interference with safety measures once the grid has been cleared.
“The Stewards determine that any person affiliated to a team or other stakeholders should be aware that entering the track or hindering the safety measures to prepare the track for the race after the grid has been cleared is absolutely prohibited,” the statement continued.
“Thus, irrespective of whether or not the instructions of the relevant officials have been realized by the person concerned, hindering or delaying the process of closing the gates before the race start must be considered as an unsafe act and therefore a significant penalty to the team is warranted. In order to prevent any reoccurrence, a portion of the financial penalty is suspended.”
