Venus Williams Celebrates Lavish Wedding Week in Palm Beach
Tennis icon Venus Williams has ushered in the holiday season with a spectacular week-long wedding celebration in Palm Beach, Florida, culminating in her marriage to Italian actor Andrea Preti. While the couple initially exchanged vows in Italy back in September, they opted for a second ceremony in the United States to formalise their union, as the administrative process in Europe could be lengthy.
The festivities, spanning six days, were a blend of intimate gatherings and grand events, designed to honour their commitment with close friends and family. In a recent interview, Williams and Preti shared insights into the luxurious dinners and parties that marked their journey to becoming husband and wife.
A Touch of Unforeseen Weather
Despite the carefully curated schedule, the elements presented a minor challenge. Williams, addressing her millions of Instagram followers, noted that Florida experienced unusually strong winds during her wedding week. However, the spirit of the celebration remained undeterred.
“You wouldn’t believe how the wind was blowing outside,” she shared, accompanied by a photograph from an early dinner party. “But it was calm and lovely inside. I was hoping the bad weather would stave off for the wedding weekend!”

Visuals from the main wedding day suggest that the blustery conditions did not overshadow the joyous occasion. Nevertheless, the recurring theme of gusty winds throughout the week was acknowledged, even in the Vogue interview that detailed the couple’s “jam-packed itinerary.”
Dedication Amidst Celebration
Even amidst the whirlwind of wedding preparations, Williams maintained her unwavering commitment to her athletic career. She revealed that her rigorous tennis training continued each morning, a testament to her discipline and dedication.
This dedication was notably evident earlier this year when she publicly confirmed her engagement to Preti. During an emotional on-court interview at the DC Open, following a triumphant return to singles play after a 16-month hiatus, Williams spoke candidly about Preti’s pivotal role in her comeback.
“My fiancé is here and he really encouraged me to keep playing,” she announced to enthusiastic cheers. “There were so many times where I just wanted to coast and kind of chill. Do you know how hard it is to play tennis? You guys don’t know how much work goes into this, like it’s 9 to 5 except you’re running the whole time.”
She further elaborated on the gruelling nature of her training regimen: “Lifting weights and just like dying and then you repeat it the next day. So he encouraged me to get through this and it’s wonderful to be here. He’s never seen me play.”
The journey to this union has been one of personal growth and resilience for Williams, who previously expressed contentment with her single life. Her relationship with Preti has clearly inspired her to embrace new chapters, both personally and professionally. This commitment to her passion, even through pain and surgery, ultimately led to the announcement of her engagement at 45, marking a significant and joyful milestone in her life.
