Vicky Pattison’s Journey on Strictly Come Dancing
Vicky Pattison, a well-known figure from the reality TV show Geordie Shore, has been making waves on Strictly Come Dancing this year. The 37-year-old TV personality is currently competing in the glitzy ballroom series alongside her professional partner, Kai Widdrington, 30. However, Vicky recently had to pull out of the show’s spin-off program It Takes Two due to illness, which she revealed on Instagram.
In her post, Vicky expressed her disappointment and apologized to fans who were looking forward to seeing her and Kai on the show. She shared a photo of her recovery essentials, including lozenges, cough syrup, ginger shots, oranges, and juice, as she battled the bug. Vicky also mentioned that her partner, Kai, was unwell, adding to the challenges they faced.
This comes after Vicky opened up about returning to therapy before joining Strictly. She shared her thoughts on the controversy surrounding contestants with dance experience, explaining that she needed to manage her nerves and anxiety. In a detailed post, Vicky candidly discussed how she almost turned down the opportunity due to her fears but decided to face them head-on.
Vicky emphasized the importance of self-care and support, mentioning that she spent time with loved ones, including her husband, and practiced self-care to prepare for the journey ahead. She encouraged others to embrace their opportunities, no matter how daunting they may seem.
Addressing the Competition
Vicky also addressed the current celebrity lineup on Strictly, which includes individuals with prior dance experience. This year’s cast features Amber Davies, known for her roles in 9 to 5 The Musical and Back To The Future, as well as Lewis Cope from Emmerdale, who previously performed in Billy Elliot on stage. He also participated in the Sky show Got To Dance, reaching the final of the 2013 series.
Harry, a Team GB sprinter, doesn’t have professional dance experience but took part in the 2024 Strictly Christmas Special with Nancy Xu. EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal revealed she dabbled in Latin and ballroom dancing as a hobby. Despite these experiences, Vicky believes the mix of abilities adds to the show’s charm.

The Magic of Mixed Abilities
Vicky told The Sun that every year, Strictly features people with different levels of ability. Some are completely new to dancing, while others have some experience. She clarified that experience in one genre doesn’t guarantee success in another. Vicky believes that having strong performers early on benefits the audience, as it allows them to witness brilliant performances and enjoy the journey of each contestant.

Overcoming Challenges
Despite the challenges, Vicky remains optimistic about her performance on Strictly. She acknowledges the grueling rehearsals and self-doubt that come with the territory but is determined to shine on stage. Her journey has been marked by resilience and a willingness to face her fears.

As the competition continues, fans are eager to see how Vicky will navigate the challenges ahead. With her determination and support system, she is poised to make an impact on the show. Whether it’s overcoming self-doubt or embracing the magic of mixed abilities, Vicky’s story is one of courage and growth.
