Senior Citizen Goes Missing in Oregon

A frantic search is currently underway after a senior citizen went missing and fell into a hole in Oregon, according to local authorities. Thomas Weightman, 78, of Forest Grove, which is about 40 minutes outside of Portland, was last seen on Tuesday around 3:30 pm when he left his home on foot.

That evening, officers from the Forest Grove Police Department responded to a report of a missing person. They were able to get in touch with Weightman several times, but the calls kept failing. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, during a brief cellphone contact, Thomas mentioned that he had fallen into a hole and was unsure of his location.

The department attempted to track his cell phone but could not locate it. Now, the Forest Grove Police Department is asking the public for help in locating him. Weightman has been described as a man weighing approximately 165 lbs who is five-foot, nine-inches tall.

Weightman, who also wears glasses and has a gray beard, was last seen wearing a red flannel button-down shirt, blue jeans, a dark-colored baseball cap, and black shoes. Officers from the Forest Grove Police Department, along with officials from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team, have searched the area using K-9 teams and drones.

The search continued on Thursday as the police department posted a map showing where Weightman might be. They’ve asked residents living in the highlighted region to check their property for Thomas and call 911 if he is found.

Corporal David Huey told the Daily Mail that as of Thursday, Weightman has not been found and teams are continuing their search for him.

Similar Case in Texas

This incident comes just two months after a missing Texas man was miraculously found underground after he was heard shouting for help from inside a septic tank. The 29-year-old man was rescued by firefighters on August 8 after a homeowner in Edinburg, about three hours outside of San Antonio, reported his uncle missing.

While performing a wellness check at 9:05 am, a deputy soon heard a faint noise coming from the ground in the backyard, according to the sheriff’s office. Soon enough, authorities discovered the man trapped underneath a tire in a septic tank after falling through a small opening, as stated by the Edinburg Fire Department.

The victim was stuck in the smelly tank for about 12 hours. A dramatic image showed the victim’s head poking out of the ground as he wore large headphones while rescuers guided him out.
