Pakistan’s Finance Minister Embarks on U.S. Mission
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has embarked on a significant diplomatic and economic mission to the United States. The trip, which began on October 12, is aimed at attending the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. During this six-day visit, the minister will represent Pakistan in several high-profile events and engage with key international stakeholders.
Key Meetings and Engagements
Senator Aurangzeb is scheduled to hold discussions with senior officials from the IMF, World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). These interactions are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring potential areas of collaboration.
One of the highlights of the visit is a one-on-one meeting with World Bank President Ajay Banga. Additionally, the minister will attend a dinner hosted by Banga for finance ministers of selected countries. This event provides an opportunity for informal dialogue and networking among global economic leaders.
Another important engagement is a meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. This meeting will take place during the G24 and MENAP (Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan) platforms, where Aurangzeb will deliver a keynote address. Aurangzeb will also engage with office bearers and members of the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council. This group plays a crucial role in promoting trade and investment between the two countries. Discussions will focus on tax proposals and investment opportunities in Pakistan.
