Tinubu Young Generation Forum Launches National Leadership Initiative
A youth-led organisation, the Tinubu Young Generation Forum (TYGF), has unveiled a comprehensive leadership and mentorship initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of Nigerian leaders. This ambitious program aims to equip young Nigerians with the necessary skills, knowledge, and emotional intelligence to excel in future leadership roles, thereby contributing to the nation’s development.
The initiative is intrinsically linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” seeking to foster capacity building, skills development, and professional training among the youth. This strategic approach is intended to ensure the continuity and success of the government’s developmental aspirations by investing in its most vital resource: its young people.
Pillars of the Initiative
The TYGF’s program is built on several key pillars, each designed to provide a holistic developmental experience for participants:
- Identification of Potential: The program will actively seek out ambitious young individuals who demonstrate a strong aptitude for leadership.

During a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja, the national president of the Forum, Hon. Prince Kevin, elaborated on the initiative’s objectives. He emphasized that the program is a direct response to the need for structured capacity building to sustain the “Renewed Hope Agenda.” The meeting’s agenda, themed “Youth stakeholders engagement and dialogue; Renewed Hope Agenda: Imperative of Nigerian youths’ dreams of yesterday, today and the future,” underscored the critical role of Nigerian youth as the architects of the nation’s future.
Kevin stated that the TYGF was established with the express purpose of championing youth capacity building, mentorship, and empowerment through a variety of avenues, including skills development workshops and professional training. The Forum’s unwavering commitment lies in nurturing young Nigerians with leadership potential and preparing them to assume responsible leadership positions across all sectors of society.
Inspired by Presidential Mentorship
The inspiration for this far-reaching initiative, according to Kevin, stems from President Tinubu’s own longstanding dedication to mentorship. This commitment has been evident throughout his distinguished career, from his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, to his time as a Senator, and now as President of Nigeria.
“Mr President has consistently supported and mentored aspiring leaders across generations,” Kevin remarked. “This forum seeks to institutionalise that mentorship and make it accessible to young people who aspire to serve and lead competently.”
He further stressed the critical need for investment in youth development, asserting that many of the leadership challenges confronting the nation can be attributed to a deficiency in proper mentorship and early-stage leadership training.
Grassroots Engagement and Practical Empowerment
The TYGF plans to roll out its comprehensive program nationwide, commencing next year. The initiative will begin at the grassroots level and extend across all 36 states of the Federation. The Forum is actively engaging with various stakeholders, including government agencies and youth groups, to ensure the program’s effectiveness and reach.
“We are still engaging the youths in collaboration with the government, we have done engagement programmes for young people, we are still mentoring young people on skill development, we have been supporting youths on skill development training and empowerment,” Kevin explained.
Extensive planning and stakeholder engagement are currently underway in preparation for the upcoming year’s activities. A significant aspect of the program will involve practical empowerment, where young individuals will be provided with work tools such as sewing machines, clippers, and cameras, tailored to their chosen areas of skill development and entrepreneurial aspirations. The Forum has, from its own resources, supported youth empowerment initiatives since 2023 as a demonstration of its commitment to the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The TYGF believes that the proactive engagement and nurturing of young Nigerians who possess leadership potential are paramount to securing a stable and prosperous future for the nation. This initiative represents a significant step towards realizing that vision.
