Michelle Dockery’s New Chapter Begins

Michelle Dockery, best known for her iconic portrayal of Lady Mary in the beloved ITV period drama Downton Abbey and its subsequent films, is about to embark on a new chapter in her life. After spending 15 years bringing the character to life, she is now preparing for a different kind of role — that of a mother.

The actress, who will turn 44 next month, was recently spotted with her growing baby bump as she enjoyed a cozy lunch date with her husband, Jasper Waller-Bridge. The couple was seen laughing and chatting at The River Cafe in Hammersmith, west London. Michelle was dressed in a red and black oversized coat paired with a red woollen hat, looking relaxed and content.

Jasper, a television producer and the brother of Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, met Michelle in 2019 after being introduced by mutual friends. Their relationship blossomed, leading to a beautiful wedding in September 2023. The ceremony was attended by a star-studded crowd, including many of Michelle’s Downton Abbey co-stars such as Lily James, Hugh Bonneville, and Laura Carmichael, who played her on-screen sister Lady Edith and served as bridesmaid on the big day.

Michelle first revealed her pregnancy during the London premiere of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale in September. She appeared in a dusky blue gown that highlighted her prominent baby bump. When asked about saying goodbye to her character, she expressed her deep connection to the role and the series.

“Mary will always be part of me, as will Downton Abbey as a whole. We are such a family that, for us, it never really ends,” she said.

Despite the excitement surrounding her upcoming motherhood, Michelle has not yet confirmed the due date of her first child. Her journey to this point has not been without challenges. She was previously engaged to PR director John Dineen, who passed away in 2015 after battling a rare form of cancer.

Looking ahead, Michelle has another exciting project on the horizon. She will be portraying The Mail on Sunday’s columnist, former British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, in The Queen Of Fashion, a biographical drama about the life of fashion stylist Isabella Blow.

What Lies Ahead for Michelle?

As Michelle prepares for her new role as a mother, fans are eager to see what the future holds for her both on and off the screen. Her transition from the world of Downton Abbey to a new chapter filled with personal and professional milestones is something many are excited to witness.

With her recent engagement with her husband and the anticipation of her first child, it seems that Michelle is embracing this new phase of her life with grace and optimism. Her journey continues to inspire those who follow her career and personal life.
