Amid speculation that Sarah Ferguson might be heading to Portugal when she is evicted from Royal Lodge in Windsor Park, there could be another – closer-to-home – option for the former duchess. Princess Beatrice has recently had the ‘granny annexe’ at her £3.5 million Cotswolds estate completely renovated, which could prove the perfect base for soon-to-be-homeless Fergie.
The former cattle shed had been converted into accommodation by the previous owners before Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi bought the property in 2021. Neighbours reveal the one-bedroom annexe, across a cypress-lined courtyard from the six-bedroom main house, has recently been gutted and refitted with new doors and windows – in Cotswolds green, of course.
“The granny annexe seems to be ready to move into now,” says my source. “It’d be perfect for Fergie, wouldn’t it? The stonework has all been repointed, the gutters renovated, the woodwork nicely painted. It has its own entrance.”
“Just today, the road was blocked for a delivery of propane gas bottles for the annexe. That coincided with the first cold snap of winter. So, clearly, the arrival of someone is imminent. It may not look like much of a palace on the outside, but I bet it’s stunning inside.”
And a cosy spot in the fashionable Cotswolds is surely a brighter option for Fergie than desolate Sandringham in Norfolk, where former husband Andrew is apparently heading.

Former model Caprice is bidding farewell to her £12 million home in London. The gargantuan six-bedroom pad comes with some rather interesting features, including all-white furnishings, a jacuzzi and an S&M-style swing that dangles from the ceiling.
I imagine those walls have secrets: the house used to be a private members’ club and was featured on ITV’s Celebrity Homes with Abbey Clancy.
